Performance Store licenses are core based per monitored instance. A “core” is defined as a physical or virtual CPU core. Logical processors resulting from technologies like Hyper-Threading do not count as additional cores.

License calculation example:

• 1 server with 2 cores and 4 logical processors: will require 2 core licenses
• 1 server with 2 cores and 2 monitored SQL Server instances: will require 4 core licenses
